Welcome back to BrianandBarbee.com! It's been four years since our last website update and for that, we apologize. One of the highlights (besides the fact that we did indeed get married -- see pics here) is that we’ve moved into a charming, virtually unknown neighborhood called Commonwealth Park. It’s a great little place with easy access to Uptown and an assortment of can’t-go-wrong yummy restaurants nearby. More than the architecture, we’ve really come to enjoy our neighbors. They’re colorful and kooky, sometimes even nutty, maybe that’s why they feel so much like family and we feel like we belong.

We are still attending Central Church of God, the place where we met over seven years ago. If you’ve never heard him, I recommend you listen to one of Pastor Loran Livingston’s sermons on the web at www.centralchurchofgod.org. He is one of the most incredible speakers we’ve ever heard and a wonderful pastor. He explains the gospel of Christ clearly and emphatically. We can’t say that we agree with each and every thing he says. But during those times, we find ourselves discussing the sermon all the way home, praying to understand God better and reading the Bible more closely than we had before. Oh wait – that’s one of the things he is trying to get us to do in the first place. Finding this diversity of thought in our place of worship has also led us to seek out diversity in other places as well – in friendships, books, food, and music. Ok, so we aren’t too diverse in the way we dress, but we do live in Banktown after all.

Another activity we’ve been up to recently is that we joined the YMCA. The Y’s in this area are nicer than other facilities we’ve found and we’ve had a great time working out together. Brian likes to run around the indoor track (9 laps=1 mile) and use the elliptical machines, and I do a little running, a little swimming, and a little yoga. We’ve taken a few classes together, including some weightlifting and cycling. For me I don’t know that it has changed my body as much as it has changed my outlook. It gives you time to collect your thoughts after a long day at work, which makes it time well spent. And we’re not the only ones seeking this daily attitude adjustment. People working out at the Y are just so nice and content, I guess they’re on a natural high as well!

Thanks for coming by the site and seeing what we’re up to. We hope you won’t be disappointed!
